2023 CSA Week 16

With most home gardens fading with the fall temperatures, this week marks 2/3 through our CSA season. Your farmers are harvesting fall crops like squash and potatoes, but they are also planting fresh greens and cool weather crops to harvest through the rest of the year.

Our CSA season is 24 weeks long, and the last pickup/delivery day is November 15, the week before Thanksgiving. Make sure you use up your store credit by the end of the season!

Also, if you still haven't paid your third quarter invoice, you do not have credit to use in the store, but you can order and pay with your credit card.

This is B week for biweekly shares. Click the button below to go to the store.

Upcoming schedule change

Next week's share customization period will end early. On Sunday, September 24, I will close the store at 6 PM. I will be off work Sunday evening through Monday.

Also, for three of the next four Sundays I will NOT send reminders to customize your share to those who haven't done so yet. I will be offline 9/16, 9/17, 9/30, 10/1, 10/7, and 10/8. So your Friday morning email is the only reminder you will receive those weeks to customize your share.

This week's features

  • Cherry tomatoes are back this week after a week or two off. The plants are waning, so if you love them be sure to add them to your cart.

  • Watermelon takes a long time to grow, so local melons are usually best in the late summer.

  • Just 8 pints of raspberries this week. Grab 'em quick!

  • Probably the last hurrah for sweet corn...from two farms! Choose an old variety white corn (Silver Queen) from Mickley Farm or yellow super sweet from Detweiler Farm.

Farm News

Looking for something to do this Saturday? Some of our farms and vendors will be at Slippery Rock Village Fest.

Recipes

With the chilly weather, it's time for soup! This Stuffed Pepper Soup has instructions for stove top, crock pot, and Instant Pot.

Parmesan Herb Roasted Acorn Squash is another fall comfort food that I love to make.

Have a great weekend!

Amy
