Farm News
Things are bustling at Bushel & a Peck Farm. Our store, Philson & Friends Artisanal Wares, at Grove City Premium Outlets has been open for three weeks. We are a seasonal store filled with locally-made products from small and home-based businesses and farms. You can find us at #1230 this year, in the very last aisle next to adidas. I spent all day Thursday filtering and bottling maple syrup for the store and CSA. We are also finishing up a large round top equipment building on our farm where we will store and work on tractors and farm equipment. Hundreds of grass fed sheep and cattle require a lot of hay, which requires a lot of equipment and maintenance. Our animals will remain on pasture into December. During the growing season we practice rotational grazing, which means we move them to a new portion of the pasture every day or two. But during the winter they are fed hay.
Howard at Mickley Organic Farm has been busy harvesting fall grains and planting grains to over winter. He has also been digging sweet potatoes and potatoes this week.
