We're back to mud season during this January thaw. Even though the warmer temps are nicer to work in, we know that winter is far from over.
On our farm, besides feeding cattle and sheep through the muddy mess, we are cleaning maple equipment and getting our tubing repaired in the woods. We don't tap this early, even though we could get a small run of sap during this warm-up. We wait until we're sure that the sap will keep running. We've had over 30 lambs born so far this season, as well as two calves. But our laying hens just don't want to give us many eggs, despite artificial light.
Good news for the CSA! We are in discussions with three farms that are interested in providing produce to the CSA. We should have an answer from each of them in the next couple of weeks.
