2023 CSA Week 18

This week marks 3/4 through our season. We will begin the final quarter at Week 19. The final week of the season is November 15.

This is B week for biweekly shares.

If you are on the quarterly payment plan, we will be charging your card on file for the fourth quarter this week. If you don't have a card on file, look for an invoice in your email. If your invoice is not paid by October 10, store credit will not be added to your account for Week 19.

Amy will be off work Saturday and Sunday this week and next week, so you won't receive a reminder on Sunday if you haven't customized your share yet. Since most CSA members order on Friday, I am planning to open the store to non-members late afternoon on Friday so they can still place orders this weekend.

It's going to be a short and sweet newsletter for the next couple of weeks. We are getting ready for Applefest in Franklin next weekend, and I'm the main maple bottler and product maker in the family. A few days after that our seasonal store opens at Grove City Premium Outlets. So I'm just a bit overwhelmed at the moment :)

This week's features

  • Butternut squash makes its debut for the year.

  • Red and green cabbage are back

  • 20 raspberries. They will keep producing until it's too cold.

  • 20 bags of apples, but these are a different variety with a more spots than the last group. Farmer Howard doesn't know what variety most of his apples are, but these taste like they would be a good baking apple.

  • Greens this week include arugula, lettuce, bok choy, kale, tatsoi, koji.

  • Some of you noticed that maple mustard is back in stock as of last week.

Recipes

All the veggies you need for this Ratatouille are available in CSA this week. Whip up this simple vegetarian dish.

Indian Butternut Squash Curry is another vegetarian dish that delivers lots of flavor.

Enjoy what might be the last warm weekend of the year!
